Description of the study work
Bachelor's thesis
The Bachelor's thesis is written during the 6th Bachelor's semester (13 weeks in the spring) and constitutes the completion of the Bachelor's programme. It affords 10 credit points (approximately 300 work hours).
The supervision of this work is typically carried out by an external partner and one of the teaching coordinators. For additional information and examples of current and previous topics, visit the page dedicated to Bachelor's theses.
Master's project
The Master's project is normally carried out in the 3rd Master's semester (50% time during 14 weeks in autumn). It affords 12 credit points (approximately 360 hours of work). The students work alone or in groups of two or three students. Each student or group is supervised by a professor. It is recommended to do the Master's project as a group work.
External supervisors can propose topics. The students are responsible for elaborating the goals and approach of the project. For additional information and examples of current and previous topics, visit the page dedicated to Master's projects.
Master's Thesis
The Master's thesis can be started at any time if the prerequisites are satisfied. It must be completed in 26 weeks and it affords 30 credit points (approximately 900 hours of work).
The supervision of this work is usually carried out by the responsible professor and the external advisors. For additional information and an overview of the current topics available, visit the page dedicated to Master's theses.
Submission of topics
Additional information about the submission of topics can be found in the pages dedicated to each project type. It is worth mentioning that submission of a topic constitutes no guarantee that this will be accepted by the chairs or chosen by students.
The time windows for submitting a topic and for carrying out a project depend on the type of project and the academic calendar. The table below provides an overview.
